Today the Odense principals picked us up in two vans and we took a ferry to an island off the south coast of Funen, Denmark. We visted two towns, Aero, which was very old with quaint houses, and Marstal, which is an old shipping village. We had a guided tour through Aero and also through the ship museum in Mastal. The Principals treated us to a very nice lunch in what is called The King's Room in a local restaurant. It is so called because there are many pictures of Danish kings on the walls, but just yesterday the Crown Prince of Denmark ate there according to one of our guides.
Tonight Olav took us to a professional soccer game - it was not World Cup teams, but the teams right below them. Then he bought us all knitted scarves in the coolrs and logos of the home team. The home team won one to nothing. After we walked home from the game, most just picked up some groceries and called it a night.
We are all very appreciative of this extraordinary generosity of our friends, the 6 Odense principals.
Tomorrow we visit schools and a classroom resource center, and then we are invited over to one of the principals houses for supper.

ReplyDeleteHope the sun comes out a bit more for you.
Have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for the comment. Our Danish friends have really treated us to some great trips, meals, school visits and companionship, but to fit it all in we have really been busy. The students are keeping up well, but everyone has said they are looking forward to a slow day or two once we get to Bergen. They are a great bunch of kids - several of the Danes have made a point to mention this to us. Now we are on to Norway!
